THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN US

Terms of service

What you can expect from ATS Engine, what we expect from you, and the things we are careful not to promise. Written to be read rather than to be survived.

Last updated: 17 September 2026

Who you are agreeing with

ATS Engine is a product of DennisNowland Ltd, a company registered in Scotland under number SC885995, with its registered office at 145 Glamis Road, Kirkcaldy, Fife, KY2 6LP. In these terms “we”, “us” and “ATS Engine” mean that company, and “you” means the person or organisation using the service.

These terms apply whenever you use ats-engine.com, app.ats-engine.com, or any of the free tools we publish. Creating an account, subscribing, or using a free tool means you accept them. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you are confirming you are allowed to.

What ATS Engine does — and what it does not

ATS Engine helps you track applications, analyse job adverts and CVs, generate documents, check compliance requirements and manage a hiring pipeline. Parts of it use artificial intelligence.

Every score, match percentage, compliance result and generated document is guidance, not a decision. A CV score is a view on how a document is likely to read; it is not a judgement of a person. A compliance checklist is a prompt to look something up; it is not legal advice and it is not a substitute for taking advice.

You remain responsible for your hiring decisions, for meeting the obligations that apply to you, and for checking anything the product produces before you act on it or send it to anyone. We build the tools; the decisions are yours.

Your account

You need an accurate email address, and you are responsible for what happens under your login. Do not share credentials. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.

Team plans have seats, and a seat belongs to one named person. Passing one seat between several people is not what you have paid for and we may ask you to add seats instead.

You must be 16 or over to hold an account.

Plans, trials and payment

The free trial does not need a card. New accounts get fourteen days of the full Job Seeker Pro feature set. Nothing is charged, nothing is stored, and on day fifteen the account simply becomes a Free account. You do not have to cancel it and it cannot turn into a bill by accident.

A paid subscription is separate, and it charges from the start. When you subscribe through PayPal the first payment is taken when you approve it, not later. It then renews automatically each billing period until you cancel. Prices are shown in GBP or USD on the subscriptions page and include any tax where we are required to charge it.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your account or directly in PayPal. Cancelling stops the next payment; it does not refund the period you are already in, and you keep access until that period ends.

If you are a consumer in the UK or EU you normally have fourteen days to change your mind about a purchase made online. Because we start providing the service immediately, you are asked to agree to that when you subscribe, and doing so ends the cancellation right once we have begun. Nothing here affects your statutory rights if the service is faulty or not as described.

Refunds beyond that. We are a small company and we would rather sort a problem out than argue about it. If something has gone wrong, write to sales@ats-engine.com and tell us what happened.

If a payment fails we may suspend paid features until it is settled. We will not delete your data for a failed payment without telling you first.

Your content, and other people’s data

Everything you put into ATS Engine stays yours — your CVs, your job adverts, your candidate records, your notes. We do not claim ownership of it and we do not sell it. We hold it so we can provide the service to you, and we describe exactly how in the privacy policy.

If you are a recruiter, the candidate records you upload are other people’s personal data and you are the one responsible for having a lawful basis to hold them, for telling those people you hold them, and for honouring their rights. We process that data on your instructions. Where a data processing agreement applies, it sits alongside these terms.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload.

Artificial intelligence and what leaves our systems

Some features send text to a third-party AI provider to be analysed or generated. What that involves, which provider, and what is sent is set out in the privacy policy, and you should read it before putting anything sensitive into those features.

AI output can be wrong, and can be confidently wrong. Read what it produces before you use it. Do not send a generated document to a candidate or a client without checking it.

How you may not use it

Do not use ATS Engine to break the law, to discriminate unlawfully against anyone, to send unsolicited bulk email, to upload malicious code, to scrape or resell the service, to attempt to access another organisation’s data, or to test its security without asking us first.

Do not upload personal data you have no right to hold, and do not use the product to build a profile of someone who has asked you to stop.

If you find a security problem, please tell us at privacy@dennisnowland.uk rather than demonstrating it on live data. We will not pursue anyone who reports something responsibly and gives us a chance to fix it.

The free tools

The CV checker, match checker, advert checker and compliance checker are free and are provided as they are. They are useful and they are limited — they see one document at a time and know nothing about your circumstances. We may change or withdraw them at any time.

Availability

We work to keep the service running and we do not promise it always will. There is no uptime guarantee attached to these terms, and we would rather say so plainly than publish a number we cannot stand behind.

We may take the service down for maintenance, and we may change how features work. If we withdraw something you rely on, or make a change that materially reduces what a paid plan gives you, we will tell subscribers before it happens.

Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. Export functions exist for that reason.

What belongs to us

The software, the site, the scoring engines, the wording and the branding are ours and stay ours. You get the right to use the service while you have an account, and nothing more than that. Do not copy it, resell it, or reverse-engineer it.

Anything you produce with the tools — your adverts, your tailored CVs, your letters — is yours to use however you like.

Suspension and ending the agreement

You can close your account at any time. What happens to your data afterwards, and how to have it deleted sooner, is set out on deleting your data.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is using the service to harm someone, or that has not paid. Except where the problem is serious or urgent, we will tell you what is wrong and give you a chance to put it right first.

If we close a paid account for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund the unused part of what you have paid.

Where our responsibility ends

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Nothing in them takes away a consumer’s statutory rights.

Beyond that: we are not liable for lost profits, lost business, lost opportunities, or for a hiring decision you made with the product’s help. Our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to what you paid us in that period.

That limit is the honest consequence of what this product costs. A tool at this price cannot carry the risk of a hiring decision, which is why the sections above are clear that the decisions stay with you.

Changes to these terms

We will update these terms from time to time. The date at the top always says when. If a change materially affects what you have paid for, we will tell subscribers by email before it takes effect, and you may cancel if you do not accept it.

Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the current version.

Law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, this does not deprive you of the protection of your own country’s law, and you may bring proceedings where you live.
