YOUR DATA, YOUR CALL

Deleting your data

How to get your data out, get it corrected, or get rid of it entirely — and an honest account of the two things that survive.

Last updated: 16 September 2026

Deleting your account and everything in it

The fastest route is to do it yourself: sign in, open Settings, and choose to close your account. It takes effect immediately.

If you cannot sign in, or you would rather we did it, email privacy@dennisnowland.uk from the address on the account with the subject Delete my data. We will confirm it is you, delete the account, and write back to tell you it is done. We do not ask why, and we do not try to talk you out of it.

What actually gets deleted

Everything that is yours: your profile, your CVs and uploaded files, your generated documents, your job analyses and match scores, your applications and their history, your messages and attachments, your achievements and interview notes, and any mailbox connection you set up for the Email Agent.

Two things survive, and we would rather say so than let you find out later:

  • Records of what you paid. UK tax law requires us to keep transaction records for six years. This is the invoice, not your content.
  • Anonymised statistics. Counts and totals that no longer identify anyone, and cannot be traced back to you.

How long it takes

Your account and its contents go immediately. Encrypted backups roll off within 30 days, after which no copy remains anywhere in our systems.

If a recruiter holds your data

This is the case that catches people out, so it is worth being clear.

If a recruitment agency has your CV in their ATS Engine account, that record belongs to them, not to us. They decided to collect it and they decide how long to keep it — we only hold it on their behalf. So the request has to go to the agency.

Tell us anyway, at privacy@dennisnowland.uk. We will pass it to them, make sure they have the tools to action it, and follow up. What we will not do is delete an agency’s records because somebody emailed us asking, which protects you as much as it protects them.

The other things you can ask for

Deletion is not the only right you have, and it is often not the one you want.

  • A copy of your data. Ask, and we will send it in a portable format.
  • A correction. Most things you can edit yourself in the product; anything you cannot, we will fix.
  • Stop using it for something. You can object to processing we do on the basis of legitimate interests, and withdraw advertising consent at any time from the cookie notice.
  • Pause rather than delete. If you want us to hold your data but stop doing anything with it while a question is resolved, ask for restriction.

Same address, same answer time: privacy@dennisnowland.uk, within one month.

If we get it wrong

Tell us, and we will put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. You are not required to raise it with us first, though it is usually quicker.

The full picture of what we hold and why is in the privacy policy.
